When changing licensing and/or account types with Microsoft, your Microsoft Teams account must be reauthenticated on all devices. This will ensure you are on the correct Teams network. Please follow the instructions below to ensure communication through Teams is not disrupted.
Device Setup
Computer
- Open Microsoft Teams, go to Preferences, then accounts
- Sign out from your account
- If it does not restart on its own, quit, and reopen Microsoft Teams
- Click on “Use another account or sign up”
- Enter your email address, and choose “Work or School account” if prompted
- Enter your password, and 2FA verification code
Smartphone
- Open Microsoft Teams, if you are in an active chat window, exit out by tapping “<” on the top left corner
- Tap on the round account image on the top left corner (could be your photo or a letter)
- Tap on “Settings” then scroll all the way down and tap on “Sign Out”
- This will restart the app, choose “Sign-in with another account"
- Enter your TGR email address, and choose “Work or School account” if prompted
- Enter your password, and 2FA verification code
Troubleshooting
If you’re having Microsoft Teams related issues or aren’t able to follow the steps above, please follow troubleshooting steps provided below.
Windows Devices
- Close Microsoft Teams and Outlook
Right click the Teams icon in your icon tray in the bottom right corner of your screen, then click Quit
In Outlook, select the File menu and choose Exit.
- While holding the Windows key, press R to open Windows Run, then copy and paste "%appdata%\Microsoft" into the following into the box and click OK
- Find the Teams folder, then right click it and select Delete
- Relaunch Microsoft Teams and follow the steps up top to sign back in
MAC Devices
- Close Microsoft Teams by right clicking the Microsoft Teams icon in your dock and selecting "Quit"
- Open Finder, then click Go and select Go to Folder…
- Copy and paste "~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft" into the following into the Go to Folder box, then click Go
- Right click the Teams folder, then click Move to Trash
- Using Spotlight Search (accessed by clicking the magnifying glass on the macOS menu bar), enter “Keychain” and select Keychain Access
- Within Keychain, search for “Microsoft Teams” to find the Microsoft Teams Identities Cache entry. Right click this item and select the delete option, then close the Keychain Access app
- Relaunch Microsoft Teams and follow the steps up top to sign back in
