When an email archive license is purchased and configured, you'll start to see a few changes to your mailbox. Here's a few things you can get familiar with before the changes are made.

Visual Changes

After setup, the archive mailbox will appear beneath your regular folders as an independent section. Labeled “In-Place Archive -Name”, this is where you'll access any archived emails. This section will replicate your existing folder and email structure as mail is moved into the archive.

How it Works

An email archive will automatically move emails of a specific criteria into your In-Place Archive section, typically based on the age of the email. The default for this is any emails older than 2 years, but this can be changed upon request.

This will take pressure off of you to manually move emails - and it comes with additional storage space for your emails under the archive section. This way, you get to keep your older emails and still have them be accessible from your mailbox without going over email quota.
